"Creativity within dream and reality"

Biography

Born in Ballymoney, County Antrim, Edith was involved in art from an early age with her first commission at the age of twelve.  Edith worked in the Middle East for many years with IBM WTC and Toys'R'Us where she met her husband and raised a family yet still made time to paint and exhibit.  The family finally returned home to Ballycastle in 1996 and she has been painting professionally since 2003.
Over the years, Edith has been the recipient of many awards, local and international, including the 2003 'SAA Artist of the Year' Seascape Category and "People's Choice" Award at the Artist's & Illustrator's Exhibition in London.  She is an elected member of both the Ulster Watercolour Society [UWS] and the Ulster Society of Women Artists [UWA];  she has also served on both society councils.
Edith works to commission from her purpose built gallery & studio at home and regularly supports various charities by auctioning her artwork to raise funds.  She is a self-taught artist and qualified Interior & Lighting Designer and has designed/created stage sets as well as programmes for the Kuwait Theatre.
Many of her artworks hang in private collections  throughout the Middle East, Europe, Uk and Northern Ireland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA.  Edith has exhibited work in the Middle East, London and Northern Ireland, with the Royal Ulster Academy, and is represented by LongMountain Gallery and the Millbank Gallery in Templepatrick.
"I will always feel the need to express myself through a paintbrush.  The constant movement of the sea and the need to capture this energy on canvas and paper continues to be a learning process.  I aim to convey this poetry and drama through my paintings."
